🌾 About Sieda Milling

Family-Milled Flour with Deep Roots in the Southern Wheatbelt

Sieda Milling is owned and run by third-generation farmers, Shiane and Matt. Together with Shiane’s parents, we manage a mixed farming operation in Esperance, WA, growing high quality crops and raising sheep for wool and lamb.

Farming is in our blood, and we take great pride in the work we do. We understand the journey from seed to harvest because we live it every day. When you choose Sieda Milling flour, you're not just buying from a mill - you're buying from farmers who grow, mill, and stand behind every bag.

Every bag of flour reflects years of dedication, care for the land, and a deep love of agriculture. This isn't just our business; it's our heritage, our passion, and our future.

🌱 How Our Milling Journey Began

From Farm Managers Program to Family Mill

In 2023, while taking part in a Farm Managers Program, we found ourselves exploring new ways to add value to what we grow — and to share it more directly with others.

That spark became Sieda Milling.

We discovered the world of stone ground flour and were captivated. We learned how traditional stone milling retains all the natural goodness of the grain—the nutritious wheat germ, the fiber-rich bran, the complex flavours. We discovered how much better flour tastes when it's genuinely fresh, not months old.

From that moment, we couldn't unsee the potential.

Why were we sending our carefully grown wheat into a system where it would sit for months before reaching home bakers? Why couldn't people taste the true flavour of grain we worked so hard to produce?

So, we got to work—and never looked back.

We installed a traditional stone mill right here on our farm, learned the craft of milling, and began sharing our flour with bakers across Australia who value freshness, flavour, and knowing their farmer.

🥖 Our Flour

Milled Fresh, Milled Right

We mill in small batches every fortnight, using Australian-grown grain (much of it grown right here on our farm in Grass Patch). This isn't industrial flour mass-produced and stored for months - this is flour milled with intention.

What makes our flour different:

🌾 Stone Milled: Our traditional stone mill operates at low temperatures, gently crushing the wheat to preserve delicate oils, vitamins, and flavours that high-speed roller mills destroy

📅 Genuinely Fresh: Milled to order and delivered within days. Every bag shows its mill date because transparency matters

🚜 Traceable to Our Farm: Much of our wheat is grown in our own paddocks. We know every step from seed to sack

The result?

Flour that's rich in taste, texture, and tradition. Flour that performs better because it's fresh. Flour that nourishes because it's whole. Perfect for bakers who value simple ingredients and real food.

Why We Do What We Do

At the heart of Sieda Milling is a belief in slowing down and doing things properly—the way our grandparents did. In a world of shortcuts and mass production, we've chosen the path of craftsmanship.

We're here for:

  • The home bakers who understand that great ingredients make great food

  • The sourdough enthusiasts whose starters thrive on living flour

  • The families who want to know exactly what they're feeding their loved ones

  • The food lovers who believe eating should be both nourishing and delicious

When you open a bag of Sieda flour, you're not just opening flour—you're opening a connection to our farm, our family, and our commitment to doing things right.
